Bio
I am the daughter of a chef and I am on a mission to improve employees’ health by improving their eating patterns! I am the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Food Choice at Work Ltd and I also hold an Adjunct Lecturer position in Public Health Nutrition with the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health in UCC. While studying for my Masters, I discovered a keen interest in public health nutrition and in 2015 I obtained my PhD in Public Health Nutrition, also from UCC. I was the lead investigator of the Food Choice at Work Study (2010 – 2015), where I developed, conducted and evaluated a large-scale dietary intervention study over a period of 23 months. Due to considerable commercial interest and the significance of the trial findings, Food Choice at Work was commercialised in 2015, a process that I spearheaded. Food Choice at Work represents a ground breaking innovation in the enterprise workplace and is a leading edge healthy eating management system for employees. Current clients range from SMEs to multinational corporations, including Microsoft. The company was recently awarded an accolade of ‘Most Revenue Generating Start Up’ in 2017 by UCC’s Gateway Innovation and Incubation Centre and now employs 5 permanent female staff. My aim is to reinvent the wheel when it comes to employee health. The ultimate ambition for Food Choice at Work is to be a leading international technology based company that is focused on the promotion of a healthy diet for employees. Food Choice at Work is a company that desires to do good by doing good! As a thought leader in this area, my research profile continues to grow and I have contributed to 14 peer-reviewed publications to date and have discussed my work all over the world (most recently in Canada at the International Society for Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity Conference).
